Dedication of the Veterans Memorial at Veterans Park in Pendleton, SC

I am so looking forward to Veterans Day 2014 on November 11 at 11 am for the Dedication of the Veterans Memorial.  The Committee and all of "Friends of the Park" have been working hard all year for this big event and the closer the time comes, the prouder I am to be an American.  I did get a sneak preview of the monument and I had chills and tears in my eyes.  All the many engraved pavers with names of men and women who were willing to fight for our country is certainly impressive and I am very appreciative of all of them.  I hope you will join us at the Dedication and take time to thank the many Veterans who will be there.

It will be a beautiful ceremony.

Pendleton's Fall Harvest Festival and the Scarecrows Are Coming To Town!

It is about time for Pendleton folks to be thinking about the Scarecrow they are going to create for the 3rd Annual Pendleton Scarecrow Contest.  This is such an amazing sight to see as Pendleton must have some of the most clever people anywhere around.  I mean, you just wouldn't believe some of the ideas that people come up with.

It is even almost as much fun to watch as people come to town to look at them and take pictures.  I love to see families enjoying the sights together and hearing the enthusiasm of the children.  It is such a positive thing and so wonderful to see the many smiling faces around town.

If you have never been to our Fall Harvest Festival, I hope you will plan to come this year.  I understand that there are over 100 vendors which is the most ever!  There will be great entertainment and delicious food so come join us on October 18 from 10 to 5 on the historic Village Green in Pendleton, SC.  I think you will be glad you did.

Here is a look at some of the scarecrows that were around in 2012.

Hope to see you joining to the fun in Pendleton!
