Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend - A Fundraiser to help Veterans Park "Sparkle"

Friends of the Park was so excited when Crystal Posey approached us with the idea for this Alumni Softball Game.  She is so very clever and energetic and we are proud to be the sponsoring organization.

Plans are in the making for sometime this fall.  You can keep up with what is going on with this fun event by "liking" the fan page - see badge to the right.  You are also invited to post any pictures of the PHS Lady Bulldogs in action on the fields at Veterans Park!

Thank you, Crystal, for Stepping Up To The Plate for Veterans Park!

Squidoo Is Stepping Up To The Plate For Pendleton SC

Squidoo is having a charity contest this summer called the Summer Sunshine Award Contest for Charity. They will be giving away $99 a day each weekday for 60 days beginning June 7, 2010. Friends of the Park is an approved Squidoo Charity so we have a chance to be a winner more than once. Lensmasters are asked to create a lens after May 1, 2010 and opt to donate 100% of their royalties to an approved charity. That means that Friends of the Park will be receiving 100% of the royalties from every lens that is created on it's behalf.

You can nominate these lenses by submitting the New Nomination Form to be used for this contest Sunshine Award Nomination Form

To date we have 9 lenses donating 100% of their royalties to Pendleton's Friends of the Park and I anticipate this list to grow. If you would like to see our Veterans Park be a winner, then please nominate each of these lenses. You can only nominate a lens once but you may nominate as many lenses as you would like. Please visit these lenses and leave a comment by choosing "visitor" in the comment section.

Or maybe you would like to join Squidoo and create lenses of your own. It is lots of fun and I will be glad to help you get started.

Here are the lenses in Squidoo's Summer Sunshine Award Contest for Charity designated for Friends of the Park.

Friends of the Park Needs YOU!

Friends of the Park is holding it's first meeting of 2009 on January 19 at Pendleton United Methodist Church in the Social Hall. We really need some new active members and hope you will consider joining us. We just meet once a month and try very hard to hold those meetings down to one hour. Friends of the Park will need you more than ever since the Tax Referendum did not pass. In order for Veterans Park to move forward as planned, it is going to take all of us working together. If you care about the park and our children and our grandchildren, please join us for this meeting. We will be setting our goals for the year which will include among other things:

Completion of the entrance to Trotter's Trail
Promoting the sale of Pavers and Tiles for the Pavilion
Organizing Freedom Fest 09
Spring and Fall Maintenance Days for Barrett's Place Playground

Please visit our Friends of the Park lens at Friends of the Park

So, you see that we already have a good bit on our plate even more we meet and we need your help. A large percentage of our active volunteers are grandparents or have older children. We need everyone but it would be great to have some young parents with children who are enjoying the park now. We realize how busy parents are when they have their children involved in sports, etc. but this is just once a month meeting for 10 months as we don't meet in November or February. We only have one large fundraiser and that is Freedom Fest which is a lot of work but also a lot of fun!

We hope you will consider joining us and make a difference!
Thank you!
